The Chamber was formed in April 1941 by a group of businessmen interested in the City of Signal Hill and its future, at a time when the area encompassing the City was primarily devoted to the production of oil and allied businesses.  Since that time, there has been a steady influx of new business firms offering a variety of goods and services and the Chamber’s membership gradually changed to include members representing a full range of businesses including accountants, architects/designers, attorneys, auto dealers and repairs, banking/finance, business services, catering, cleaning and maintenance services, communications, construction, education, electrical/plumbing, entertainment, equipment repair and rental, floral, food and wine services/supplies, galleries/framing, health/medical, home improvement, hotels, insurance, investments, mail service and shipping, manufacturing, multi-media services/designs, newspapers, oil, philanthropic, printing, publishing, real estate, rentals, restaurant, retail, transportation, wholesale, and a host of others.  Our membership also includes businesses from surrounding communities who enjoy the friendliness and opportunities that a smaller chamber can offer its members.

Our members enjoy a sense of community, camaraderie, and loyalty fostered by the many opportunities the Chamber provides through monthly membership meetings and periodic social events which enable the businesses and residents of Signal Hill to get to know each other.  Many of our members participate in our member-to-member discount program.  The Chamber, City, and local newspaper work together to provide opportunities to market members’ businesses through grand openings/ribbon cuttings, mixers, and welcoming packets for new residents.

Since its inception, this Chamber in cooperation with the City Administration, has worked diligently to protect the interests of business located in the city, to promote progress through planned development, improvements, and advertising, and to encourage new business of all types to locate in Signal Hill and become involved in the city and its business community.  In supporting, representing, and advocating for its business members, the Chamber continues to work for the general prosperity and welfare of the community.  We urge the residents and businesses of  our community to support Signal Hill businesses through your patronage. When businesses are strong and prosperous, the entire community benefits...jobs are created, products and services are provided, and sales taxes fund City services for the entire community.
